I’m realizing more and more there are certain proteins I tend to avoid for whatever reason. I just seem to stick to chicken, beef, and salmon. Growing up, pork was a regular occurrence and I have really been missing out these days. In an effort to branch out, I tried a fantastic recipe. Island Style Pork Tenderloin was a quick, easy, and delicious meal that packed a punch in the flavor department. Perfecting my tenderloin game has been a breeze, especially when it comes to browning and baking in a dutch oven. I might be a lowkey pork loin pro!

I love how hearty pork is without being a punch to your pocket! Any pork cut I have purchased has been very reasonably priced. I love it! The biggest aspect of cooking pork is to be mindful of the amount of salt you use in your seasoning. I tend to double my seasoning mixes on most of my recipes because I’m a huge fan of bold flavor. When making this dish, I decided to keep the salt level at the original amount. In the past, I have ruined pork chops due to my heavy hand. Just remember, salt can always be added. It’s better to go lighter and add than to overdo it!

Lately, I have been desperate to find recipes that are quick and easy. My schedule has been busier than ever this summer and I admittedly tend to cook less. In making an effort to find something simple, it allows me time to have hearty and healthier dinners rather than going out to eat or ordering in constantly. All it can take sometimes is etching out a thirty to forty-five-minute block to cook something quick that will soothe the soul during a busy week! This recipe did just that!

Island Style Pork Tenderloin

What You Need:

Spice Rub

  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2-3 lb pork tenderloin
  • 2 Tbs olive oil


  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 Tbs minced garlic
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
