The Instant Pot Chronicles: Starting Simple With Spaghetti

Jump to recipe

My precious! I have been waiting to get my hands on an Instant Pot for ages. As a cooking enthusiast, how could I not long for the chance to own this amazing multicooker. Now that I have one, I am never letting go. After many days stewing and researching, I finally pulled the trigger and bought my beautiful Instant Pot Ultra. Unfortunately, a measly little snow storm blew over the Amazon warehouse where my package lived and made my two-day prime shipping an entire week-long wait. It was miserable but ultimately it arrived and I couldn’t wait to start my Instant Pot adventures!

Initially, I was extremely intimidated. There are 10 functions on this device and I was only familiar with the slow cooker and saute buttons. I spent a lot of time reading the manual and researching recipes. My first creation was a delightful beef and broccoli. It took me more time to get through the recipe than it actually required but I had to re-read the steps and the instruction manual three times before I felt confident and safe to proceed. Pressure cookers have a reputation for being potentially dangerous and I didn’t want to fall victim to any harm based on user error. In the end, I was amazed. This wonderful multicooker made this delightful dish in a flash and the best part was that it was made completely in the Instant Pot. You all know I love a great one pot meal! Naturally, clean up was a breeze and I fell in love.

I’d say my first dish was a keeper so I will be sure to get it out to you on the blog at some point, but for my first recipe, I decided to keep it simple with some Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. While it is such a standard and easy meal to make, I was apprehensive about cooking noodles in a pressure cooker. After the 8-minute pressure cooking cycle, I was in awe of how close to al dente the noodles were. I basically made a full pot of spaghetti and meat sauce in the time it takes to boil the pasta itself the traditional way. Also, I can’t stress enough how much I love making an entire meal in one pot. It’s fantastic! Not to mention, all the parts of the Instant Pot are dishwasher safe. Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of my new kitchen toy. There will be a slew of adventures documented in “The Instant Pot Chronicles”.  Hopefully, I will utilize all of the 10 functions it has to offer and,  while this recipe was an easy one, you all will come along for this delicious exciting ride!
